These are the eleven waka that connects One Foundation to all Māori communities including the whānau, Marae, hapū and Iwi across New Zealand. The relationship with these waka and One Foundation is founded on the principles of whakapapa, historical journeys of the respective waka, geographical locations for those waka and all that is associated with the mana or prestige that comes with the aforementioned waka. The relevance of The Treaty of Waitangi/ Te Tiriti o Waitangi is its relationship with the respective waka and in particular with the Chiefs of those waka. The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti o Waitangi speaks for people of Māori descent, and the Treaty partners up with the Crown who represent other cultures and have the mandate to govern New Zealand.
